essay
First of all I take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude and deep regards to my guide Dr.Nurwati Badarulzaman and Cik Diana Mohamad for exemplary guidance, monitoring and constant encouragement throughout the RUS 104. The blessing, help and guidance given by them time to time shall carry me a long way in the journey of my life. Many new thing I learn with both of them. Not to forget for my studiomaster for project 6 Ar. Haris Fadzilah for his exemplary guidance to finish our AMPHITURTLE STAGE. I also take this opportunity to express a deep sense of gratitude to my studio coordinator Dr Mazran Ismail for his guidance in this course RUS 104 for this semester.I thank to my parents, brother, sisters and friends who help me to finish all the task and for their constant encouragement for this semester. Before this I never learn how to draw or sketch, but in this course I had learn many new things such as how to do some shading or one point perspective drawing. I also know how to use water colour in the drawing. Since I not art students in school, there are many things I have to learn to improve my colouring using water colour. I also learn to do site analysis, and some elevation drawing but i still weak in this drawing. From project 1 to project 8 I get many experience which are very hard to forget.Performance and award night is very enjoyable and i very glad because i participate in that awesome event.
EXHIBITON DAY (PROJECT 7)
EXBITION DAY:
- All groups will be responsible to design 5 Exhibition Booths (4 major-based group to exhibit the best studioworks of their members and 1 integrated group to display the integrated-group studio project (Project 6) during this semester).
- The design of each booth and exhibition area at the DRUM should be based on the stipulated ‘RUS104 2013/2014 Exhibition’ theme: ‘FLOATING LINES’
- For this exhibition, each booth will be provided with partition boards to display the selected presentation drawings, and table(s) to place sculptures, models or reports.
- Besides the major task to design the booth (with any possible materials) based on the ‘FLOATING LINES’ theme, each major also needs to design and provide a ‘BANNER’ (sized 10’ x 2’) that shows the name of the major and year (e.g. ‘ARCHITECTURE (01)( 2013/2014)
PERFORMANCE AND AWARDS NIGHT 2013 (PROJECT 8)
All students of RUS104 need to organize a special event as a ‘closing ceremony’ to their one-semester learning-by-doing studio life. The ceremony (named as ‘RUS104 Performance and Awards Night’) will take place at Dewan Kuliah D, USM
(next to Penerbit USM). The event involves a series of live performances by 7
major-based groups, multimedia presentation, award giving ceremony, and a farewell dinner.
The theme for the Performance Night is ‘The Lost Kingdoms’. In line with the theme, each major-based group should represent the specific Nusantara kingdoms as follows:
i.Architecture – Srivijaya
ii.Interior Design – Singhasari
iii.Urban & Regional Planning – Langkasuka
iv.Quantity Surveying – Majapahit
v.Building Surveying – Pagaruyung

PRESENTATION DRAWINGS
This project 4,students need to draw based on their ComfortABLE CHAIR design, each student
is also required to produce at least one coloured:
i) axonometric drawing (1:20 scale), and
ii) perspective drawing (with human figure shown
and students
are required to produce a plan and elevations (front, right, left and
rear) drawings of their chair.
From secondary school, my plan and elevations drawing is very bad. With help from my friend i try to finish it.
This is my drawing:
OBJECT CREATION : A FREE-FORM SCULPTURE
For this project 3a.the free-form sculpture:
- Each student is required to create an object of a free-from sculpture that can be made from any materials (new or recycled)
- The theme of the sculpture is ‘HARMONY’, but each student is free to choose their specific concept that is relevant to the stipulated theme.
- No restriction in colours to be selected (black & white, monochrome or variety of colours)
- The maximum size of the sculpture is 250mm (width), 300mm (length) and 450mm (height)
For project 3b: OBJECTS CONNECTION: A ComforTABLE CHAIR
- In group of 3, students are required to produce a structural model of a wooden L-shape seating object that combines a table and chair(s) (students are free to design and decide the form of each chair/sofa/table/desk)
- Besides aesthetical factors, students should also consider the function of the furniture as an outdoor comfortable resting spot for HBP community and visitors (as it will be placed near the HBP pond-waterfall).
- Each group should include (freehand) written statement to describe about their model design (on the suitable empty spaces next to the L-Shape model) and the title of the project (Objects Connection), the name of each group members, their majors, and the number of main group & studiomasters (on the bottom right of the mounting board)
We make this design based on the concept relax while study. this chair can make around 6 HBP's students to sit at there.
NATURAL & MAN-MADE STRUCTURES
For project 2a, which is natural structure:
- Students are required to produce a black & white sketch of a natural structure that can be found around USM Main Campus e.g. trees & plants, insects, animals, other creatures etc.
- The sketch should include the elements of light and shadow.
- Students are also required to do write up (using ‘uppercase architectural lettering’) describing the object chosen for the sketch.
- At the back of the mounting board, students should paste the actual photo (black & white) of the object chosen. Students also need to write the name of the object and the location where it is found below the photo.
Project 2b: Man made structure
§
Students are required to produce a coloured drawing of a man-made structure that can be found
around USM Main Campus.
§
The man-made structure should not be more than
one-storey height which clearly exposes its main structures like bus stop, car
porch, covered pathway, wakaf etc.
§
In addition to the elements of light and shadow,
the drawing should also include human figure as a reference of scale.
§
Students are also required to do write up (using
uppercase architectural lettering) describing the object chosen for the drawing.
§
At the back of the mounting board, students should
paste the actual photo foto (black & white) of the object chosen. Students
also need to write the name of the object and the location where it is found
below the photo.
For this project, I choose bus stop near Desasiswa Fajar Harapan. For this drawing,I think it very difficult for me to finish it.
ME, MYSELF & I
The tasks and requirements for project 1a is stewardship. Students need to sketch their own face with pencil. Student also need to write some descriptions about themselves,by describing their:
